Sheboygan, Wisconsin 2012

Organizer: Lisa Vihos

100TPC will have a booth at Earthfest in Sheboygan’s Fountain Park on August 18 and 19. We will promote the September 29 event there, along with many other “poetic” endeavors, such as Mead Library, Bookworm Gardens, Stoneboat journal, and the work of local writers. We will also read poems on the main stage and conduct mini-writing workshops for kids and families. We are excited to connect with this long-standing Sheboygan tradition!

IDEAS Academy high school students are invited to capture the role of change in their fields of study and in their lives, then create poems to share at Open Mic on Sept. 29!!
    Tides of the future
Roll under the skin of youth
    Raise hearts, raise voices!

Our group has met a couple times and we are planning to begin our event so that it will begin the week before, on September 22 at Bookworm Gardens. One of our group members teaches high school creative writing and she is thinking of some ways to get her students involved, right at the beginning of the school year. Then, on September 29, we’ll do an open mic reading on the terrace of the library. The state poet laureate, Bruce Dethlefsen is returning to Sheboygan to be the featured reader. We are planning the reading to begin at 1:00 and to go until 3:00, or until everyone who wants to read has done so. I hope to report more soon. For now, this is where we are at.
