On Wednesday, September 18 at 7:30 pm the Nevada County Poetry Series will be taking part in an international event – “100 Thousand Poets for Change.” Bill Gainer says, “‘100 Thousand Poets for Change’ is more than poetry – it is one of the greatest audience participation pieces of social concern to come around in a long time – and we are part of it.”

The idea behind “100 Thousand Poets for Change” is to simply express your feelings about the need for change, to bring folks together in community and to share who we are. It’s free, bring a poem, song or wish of social, political or cultural comment – share it and have it included in the box. “100 Thousand Poets for Change” is not only a message of concern, but one of hope and celebration; it is a message of possibility! All subjects are open – domestic, national, world and personal – anything you have concern or hope for – the stage is yours. Remember we are not gathering for bloodletting – but to give positive voice to our concerns for the need for change! Everybody’s invited.

This is a global event. Last year over 700 cities in 115 countries raised their voices for change. 700 cities and one mountain community – us! There will be more!

Oh yes, the box. – there will be a box for all to put their poems in, if you choose. The box will be shipped off to the President – together we can be heard.

Because of time constraints, please keep your stage time to five minutes or less.

The show is FREE – at the Center for the Arts, 314 W. Main St., Grass Valley, CA, in the Granucci Room (use the main entrance). Refreshments provided. For more information call (530) 432-8196 or (530) 274-8384.
